ISRAEL:Independence from the British Mandate of Palestine on May 14, 1948, which was 5 Iyar 5708 in the Hebrew Calendar. It is celebrated on the Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday closest to 5 Iyar. Called "Yom Ha'atzmaut"
